TCL joins hands with MBC to launch Android TVs in ‘Shahid’ app

Chinese television major TCL Electronics Holdings Ltd., has reportedly announced an official partnership with Middle East and North Africa (MENA) based broadcasting company Middle East Broadcasting Center also called MBC Group. This partnership will allow TCL to incorporate its Android TV into MBC’s streaming giant, Shahid.

As per sources, the Shahid app is the most popular Arabic movies application and apparently the largest repository of Arabic movies in the MENA region. It has a premium library with exclusive content in Arabic and international languages including a number of live channels. The MENA market region forms part of the Belt and Road Initiative and has more cooperation with China.

By integrating the streaming app Shahid with its Android smart TVs, TCL Electronics has reportedly pioneered content integration in the Middle East and North African region. TCL has further announced a free subscription to Shahid VIP for purchasers of new TCL Android TV. The subscription period ranges from three months to one year subject to select models purchased from select markets.

The CEO of TCL Electronics, Kevin Wang, has stated that TCL is keen to provide first class home theatre experience to its customers out of this collaboration with MBC Group. The company believes in strengthening its position in the international market by integrating premium content into high quality TVs, adds Wang.

This official partnership of TCL Electronics with MBC Group is expected to develop local markets and fuel the expansion of TCL’s internet business in the region.

TCL has launched a new website “http://electronics.tcl.com” to provide details in this regard.
