Airtel partners with Netflix to offer a 3-month free subscription

Airtel, the largest telecom service provider in India, recently announced that it has partnered with Netflix, the video streaming giant, through which Airtel users can pay for their Netflix subscription as a part of their broadband and postpaid mobile bills. Airtel declared in a statement that select V-Fiber Home Broadband and Airtel Postpaid plan subscribers will be availed with a three-month free subscription of Netflix.

After the three-month trial period is over, Airtel subscribers can pay for Netflix subscription using Airtel postpaid or home broadband bill. The Economic Times reports that the move to gift Netflix subscription to select home broadband and mobile customers comes as an aftermath of the success Airtel reaped when more than 1 million Airtel customers availed the Amazon Pay gift card in 5 days that was rolled out by Airtel for Rs 51. The gift card was presented as a part of the 23rd anniversary celebration gift by Airtel which had previously signed a partnership with Amazon Pay.

As a part of the partnership the Airtel TV app will also promote Netflix content and provide Airtel TV users with a taste of the videos on the overwhelmingly popular streaming platform by adding a dedicated row for Netflix on the Airtel TV app.

Gopal Vittal, MD and CEO, Bharti Airtel, has been reported to say that gainful partnerships are the core of the company’s success and Airtel is delighted to expand its strategic relationship with Netflix. He added that growing use of smart devices and high-speed data has created some of the biggest opportunities for the local and global uptake of content.

According to reliable reports Airtel, on its Airtel TV app, offers a vast digital content portfolio which consists of over 10,000 movies and streams more than 375 LIVE TV channels.

Bill Holmes, Global Head of Business Development, Netflix has been reported to say that Netflix is interested in bringing its content to fans who are watching more shows on their mobiles and using broadband networks.
