BIAL inks partnership with IBM to furnish ‘Airport in a Box’ platform

One of the leading technology companies, IBM has made it to the news headlines yet again, for entering into a 10-year partnership agreement with Bangalore International Airport Limited. The authoritative body, which acts as an operator of Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, is looking forward to creating a ‘Airport in a Box’ platform.

The platform is aimed at transforming the technology, operations, and customer experience at the airport.

In fact, reports suggest that IBM Hybrid Cloud capabilities, Kyndryl, and Red Hat Automation services would potentially help BIAL augment the airport’s productivity, reduce costs, and automate the IT structure.

The move comes after an IBM official mentioned in a statement that Bengaluru airport required a scalable, nimble, and cost-competitive operations and technology environment that can accentuate its operational flexibility and agility to handle foreseeable growth in passenger traffic.

In order to achieve the goal, as mentioned by the IBM source, BIAL selected IBM Global Business Services, Kyndryl, and IBM hybrid cloud capabilities, to develop and implement a holistic architecture with strong and dynamic delivery model.

Speaking on the latest accomplishment, Hari Marar, MD and CEO of BIAL, cited that the team is excited to partner with IBM as a part of its vision to make BLR Airport a digitalized, intuitive, and seamlessly connected airport.

Meanwhile, the Senior VP at IBM Services and IBM Global Business Services, Mark Foster announced that IBM Global Business Services, and Kyndryl would be applying their expertise and skills in hybrid cloud and building business platforms to support BIAL’s mission of innovating and improving its operational efficiency.

Moreover, it would also help them deliver unique experience to their expanding passenger base.
