GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd. (GHIAL) has reportedly restarted the direct flight from Hyderabad to Malé in the Maldives. This flight service has been commenced by IndiGo Airlines.
On August 22, IndiGo flight 6E 8108 took off from GMR Hyderabad Int. Airport at 2:20 pm IST and was scheduled for arrival at the Velana International Airport in the Maldives at 4:30 pm IST. On the other hand, the return flight 6E 8107 from Malé landed in Hyderabad at 8:50 pm IST.
During the initial days, the flights will operate between GHIAL and Malé around three times a week, Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday, starting August 22. The frequency of the flights will increase to four times a week, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, starting October 15.
The departure of the flight from Hyderabad to Malé was celebrated as a momentous event at the airport. Senior officials from IndiGo and the GMR airport, along with other stakeholders of the airport were present at the terminal to wish the crew and passengers a happy journey.
Pradeep Panicker, the Chief Executive Officer of GHIAL, apparently stated that travelers from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana can appreciate the bright marine life along with the scenic grandeur of the beaches of Maldives by availing the direct flight service connecting Malé and Hyderabad. He added that the trouble-free travel experience will be an attractive prospect for nature lovers, adventure seekers, and hotel goers.
The Chief Commercial Officer of IndiGo, William Boulter, supposedly expressed that the new service will cater to the rising demand for international holiday travel from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. He also said that the airline is committed to offering an on-time, affordable, hassle-free, and safe travel experience onboard its clean flying machine.
For the record, IndiGo is a budget airline headquartered in Gurugram, Haryana. It is the largest India-based airline in terms of fleet size and passengers carried, with a domestic market share of 59.24% as of August 2020.
