ZEE5, a renowned online video on demand platform run by Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited, has reportedly signed a new partnership agreement with Applicaster Ltd. (Applicaster), an Israeli cloud platform.
Reports cite, under the proposed partnership agreement, Applicaster would be responsible for developing & managing Zee5’s smartphone app. Applicaster would also be enhancing the features & functionality of the platform to ensure an improved viewing experience.
According to a report by The Indian Wire, the collaboration has been facilitated by the Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv and aims to utilize the friendly relation that exists between the two nations along with the India-Israel pro-collaboration policies. In fact, the deal was signed in the presence of Indian Ambassador to Israel, Pavan Kapoor.
Under the terms of the agreement, Applicaster would be focusing on completely redesigning the ZEE5 app interface to reflect the ever-evolving trends & preferences of modern-day Over-The-Top (OTT) content viewers.
The CEO of ZEE5 India, Tarun Katial stated that India, apart from being the fourth-biggest app market in the world, is also one of the most densely populated landscape for OTT players. Katial further added that through the collaboration, ZEE5 has become the region’s first to harness and capitalize on Israeli technology startups’ capabilities & expertise across the mobile-entertainment landscape.
For the record, Zee5 has already partnered with over 14-15 technology startups based in Israel to improve various aspects of its offerings, including the content-recommendation algorithm.
The Co-Founder & CEO of Applicaster, Jonathan Laor stated that Applicaster is thrilled to partner with Zee5 in facilitating their desire of minimizing development-time and integrating cutting-edge components that are necessary to provide an industry-leading viewing experience for their vast 61.5 million monthly active user-base.
According to reports, financial details pertaining to the matter have not been unveiled by both parties as of yet.
